Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1:
- Fuel consumption (fuel economy) measured in L/100km or MPG (miles per gallon) shows how many liters of fuel the motorcycle burns for a 100km rum and respectively how many miles it can run with one gallon of fuel. In the specific case the fuel economy of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 allows you to ride 37.6 miles with one gallon of fuel or in other words it will burn 6.25 liters of fuel on a 100 kilometers (62 miles) run. As we already know its fuel efficiency and fuel tank capacity we can easily calculate that if the tank is full we can ride it 198 miles till we run out of gas. However we better not try it because the gas stations are never where we desperately need them to be.
- Engine size (displacement ) of 998 cc - this is the partial volume of the combustion chamber swept by all the pistons in a single movement from bottom dead center to top dead center. Bigger displacement volume usually means more powerful motorcycle engine and less miles per gallon. The Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 engine has a displacement volume of 998 cc according to the specifications above and is specified in cubic centimeters but can also be measured in liters.
- 135 mm ground clearance - this can be defined as the distance between the lowest point of the Fazer FZ-1's chassis and the level ground surface below it. Usually off-road bikes have higher ground clearance while sport bikes have lower ground clearance.Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 bore and stroke diagram
- 77x53.6 bore and stroke - bore is the diameter of the piston which equals the inside diameter of the engine cylinder. On the other hand stroke is the maximum length that the piston travels up and down inside the cylinder every stroke. The bore diameter of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 77 mm and the stroke length is 53.6 mm as per its technical specification. For this particular Yamaha engine bore is bigger than stroke meaning that Fazer FZ-1 has a short stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 11.5:1 of a motorcycle engine is the ratio of the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of the stoke and its volume when the piston is at the top of the stroke. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. Engines with higher compression ratio are more energy efficient because they are able to extract more mechanical energy from a certain amount of fuel.
- Chain final drive: Depending on the purpose of the motorcycle and its characteristics usually one among the three possible final drive options is preferred. On sport bikes the chain drive is preferred while most cruisers and touring bikes tend to be designed with belt or shaft drive. Manufacturers have used all of them over the year and each one has turned out to be a workable technology. The final drive of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is chain.
chain driven motorcycleChain final drives are known for their simplicity and efficiency in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle and are one of the most popular final drive options by far. Many bikers may complain of the need of constant care though. Since the chain is exposed to dust, sun and rain it needs to be periodically cleaned and properly lubricated.
- Liquid cooling: the constant cooling of the motorcycle engine is mandatory for its efficiency and durability. Liquid cooling is better for the engine in high traffic and speeding but its biggest advantage is that liquid cooled engines tend to produce more horsepower.Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 turn signals - replacement
- If you decided to fix the turn signals of your Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 yourself there is nothing to worry about as that is indeed an easy DIY task. Reconnecting the motorcycle turn signals cables would not be a problem as these wires are generally color coded. It could be as simple as disconnecting both the male and female ends if box connection is used. Complete the installation of the new Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 turn signals by properly connecting the wires after they are securely mounted.Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 with protective bike cover
Motorcycle covers come in different sizes and their sizing chart will help you choose the correct one using the given dimensions of the Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. Any aftermarket accessories that affect the dimensions of the bike should be considered. The cover length, width and height might need to be bigger if saddle bags, fairings or backrest have been installed on the motorcycle.
