Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Triumph Trophy 1200:
- Fuel consumption (fuel economy) measured in L/100km or MPG (miles per gallon) shows how many liters of fuel the motorcycle burns for a 100km rum and respectively how many miles it can run with one gallon of fuel. It means that based on its technical specifications Triumph Trophy 1200 will burn a gallon of fuel on every 34.6 miles of your trip or 6.80 liters on every 100km. So if Triumph Trophy 1200 has a tank full of 6.6 gallons of fuel it can be ridden for 228 miles till we run out of gas. Of course we better make sure we top it up again before that happens.
- 1180 cc engine displacement - that is the volume enclosed by the movement of the pistons from their lower to their upper position in the cylinders. The more cubic centimeters the displacement volume the more power the engine generates. As per the specification table here the displacement volume of the Triumph Trophy 1200 engine is 1180 cc. It is specified in cubic centimeters (cc) or liters.
- 155 mm ground clearance - means that the shortest distance between the ground (considering it is flat) and the chassis of Trophy 1200 is 155 mm. Motorcycles with lower ground clearance would have better handling as their center of gravity will be lower than average.Triumph Trophy 1200 bore and stroke explaination
- 76x65 bore and stroke - this is a term concerning the engine parameters describing the ratio between cylinder bore diameter and piston stroke. If bore and stroke have equal measures then the engine is called square. The technical specification of Triumph Trophy 1200 shows that its bore and stroke measures are 76 mm and 65 mm. For this particular Triumph engine bore is bigger than stroke meaning that Trophy 1200 has a short stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 10.6:1 of a motorcycle engine is the ratio of the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of the stoke and its volume when the piston is at the top of the stroke. In other words it represents how tightly the mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber is pressed before the ignition. It plays a big role in engine efficiency because bigger compression ratio means better thermal efficiency and more mileage with the same amount of gas.
- Chain final drive: It's hard to tell whether the chain or the shaft or the belt drive is the best way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle as they all do what they are meant to do and have their own advantages. All three variations of final drive have been used for a very long time and each of them has proved to be successful one. The final drive of Triumph Trophy 1200 is chain.
motorcycle with chain final driveChain final drives are known for their simplicity and efficiency in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle and are one of the most popular final drive options by far. However chains have their down points - more frequent need of maintenance (lubrication and cleaning) which means that a biker should always keep an eye on the chain especially in rainy days or dusty roads.
- Liquid cooling system: both air and liquid cooling systems serve the same purpose to keep the engine in an optimal temperature range and they both have their advantages. While air cooled bikes are better cooled while in motion, the liquid cooled motorcycles have pumps, radiators and fans to deal with the heat even at idle speed.Triumph Trophy 1200 - installation of turn signals
- Replacing the turn signals of Triumph Trophy 1200 is not a difficult undertaking and usually turns out to be much simpler than expected. Reconnecting the motorcycle turn signals cables would not be a problem as these wires are generally color coded. It could be as simple as disconnecting both the male and female ends if box connection is used. There should not be any confusion connecting the new Triumph Trophy 1200 turn signals after they are placed since the wires have been properly marked.UV and dust protection cover for Triumph Trophy 1200
Since the dimensions of the Triumph Trophy 1200 are given in the specs that would help you get the right size motorcycle cover. Some aftermarket accessories can change the overall dimensions of the bike. To provide a better protection a larger cover will be needed if additional panniers, sissy bar or windshield have been fitted on the motorcycle.
