Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Ducati Diavel:
- Fuel consumption (economy) is usually presented in L/100km (shows how many liters of fuel it consumes per 100 kilometers) or in MPG (shows how many miles it can go with one gallon of fuel). In the average case Ducati Diavel will burn 6.70 liters on every 100km of your trip. That is based on the technical specifications of the motorcycle and may vary depending on several factors as style of riding, temperature, road condition etc. As per the MPG number it will run for 35.1 miles while burning one gallon of fuel. Taken into consideration that it has a 17.0 liters (or 4.5 gallons)s fuel tank capacity it can be calculated that Ducati Diavel can run 254 kilometers or 157 miles with a full fuel tank.
- Engine displacement of 1199 cc - this refers to the volume described by the movement of a single piston in the cylinder multiplied by the number of the cylinders the engine has. In the common case bigger displacement of the engine means more horse power and more fuel consumption. The engine displacement is measured in cubic centimeters (cc) or liters (l) and for Ducati Diavel it is 1199 cc as per the specifications above.
- 130 mm ground clearance - this is the space between the ground and the lowest part of the chassis of Diavel measured in millimeters or inches. Lower ground clearance means better handling while higher clearance equals more practicality.Ducati Diavel bore and stroke explaination
- Bore and stroke 106x67.9 - the bore is a measurement of the inside diameter of the cylinder. The stroke represents the distance traveled by the piston from the top of the cylinder to the bottom (or vice versa) in a single stroke. Based on the technical specifications above Ducati Diavel has a bore with diameter of 106 mm and the length of the stroke is 67.9 mm. For this particular Ducati engine bore is bigger than stroke meaning that Diavel has a short stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 11.5:1 - this parameter refers to how the cylinder's space changes from when the piston is down at its lowest point to when the piston is up at its highest point in the stroke. In other words it represents how tightly the mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber is pressed before the ignition. With internal combustion engines the higher compression ratio allows higher efficiency because the combustion temperature is reached with less fuel.
- Chain final drive: Depending on the purpose of the motorcycle and its characteristics usually one among the three possible final drive options is preferred. On sport bikes the chain drive is preferred while most cruisers and touring bikes tend to be designed with belt or shaft drive. All of them are workable technologies and have proved that over the years. The final drive of Ducati Diavel is chain.
chain final driveMost motorcycles are produced with chain drive because of its economical way to transfer power to the rear wheel and convey the biggest percentage of engine power in that process. However all chains require keeping an eye on them and proper lubrication when they get dry and cleaning when they get dirty.
- Liquid cooling system: motorcycle engines can be air cooled or liquid cooled and they both have their advantages. Some of the main advantages of the liquid cooled motorcycles are their better performance in high traffic and speeding and that generally their engines are deigned with higher horsepower.Turn signals of Ducati Diavel
- If you decided to fix the turn signals of your Ducati Diavel yourself there is nothing to worry about as that is indeed an easy DIY task. Reconnecting the motorcycle turn signals cables would not be a problem as these wires are generally color coded. After locating the bolts that hold them in position you will have to remove them. After making sure that the new Ducati Diavel turn signals sit in the housing properly you may proceed with connecting the wires.Bike cover for Ducati Diavel
Motorcycle covers come in different sizes and their sizing chart will help you choose the correct one using the given dimensions of the Ducati Diavel. If any additional aftermarket accessories have been installed on the bike they may have an effect on the dimensions. In case the motorcycle has saddle bags or windshield then it will most likely need a larger protective cover.
