Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Ducati 1199 PANIGALE:
- The fuel consumption (fuel economy) of a motorcycle shows either the mileage that can be achieved with a certain amount of fuel (mpg) or the amount of fuel needed to cover certain mileage (L/100km). The fuel efficiency of Ducati 1199 PANIGALE based on its technical specifications will let it run for 34.1 miles burning one gallon of fuel. It also means that it will burn 6.90 liters on a 100km trip. Taken into consideration that it has a 17.0 liters (or 4.5 gallons)s fuel tank capacity it can be calculated that Ducati 1199 PANIGALE can run 246 kilometers or 153 miles with a full fuel tank.
- Engine size (displacement ) of 1198 cc - this is the partial volume of the combustion chamber swept by all the pistons in a single movement from bottom dead center to top dead center. In the common case the bigger the displacement volume the more powerful the engine and lesser fuel economy. The displacement is commonly specified in cc (cubic centimeters) or liters and based on the Ducati 1199 PANIGALE specifications its engine displacement is 1198 cubic centimeters.
- 125 mm ground clearance - this is the space between the ground and the lowest part of the chassis of 1199 PANIGALE measured in millimeters or inches. Lower ground clearance means better handling while higher clearance equals more practicality.Ducati 1199 PANIGALE bore and stroke explaination
- 112x60.8 bore and stroke - bore is indeed the size of the piston presented by its diameter and stroke is the depth of the piston measured from top to bottom. The stroke value actually represents the distance that the piston undergo in one stroke. Based on the technical specifications above Ducati 1199 PANIGALE has a bore with diameter of 112 mm and the length of the stroke is 60.8 mm. Because the length of the stroke for this Ducati engine is smaller than the diameter of the cylinder (bore) we say that 1199 PANIGALE has a short stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 12.5:1 means that the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke refers to the volume of gas when the piston is at the top of its stroke as 12.5:1. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. Higher compression ratio means bigger pressure of the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber and better efficiency achieved of its ignition.
- Chain final drive: It's hard to tell whether the chain or the shaft or the belt drive is the best way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle as they all do what they are meant to do and have their own advantages. Each of them has proved to be a successful technology for the years it has been used by bike manufacturers. The final drive of Ducati 1199 PANIGALE is chain.
chain final driveChain drives are by far the most popular final drive technology in the history of motorcycles and are the most economical way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel. The down points of the chain drive are the frequent maintenance required as it needs to be regularly cleaned and oiled. Besides it is not as smooth as a shaft or belt drive.
- Liquid cooling system: both air and liquid cooling systems serve the same purpose to keep the engine in an optimal temperature range and they both have their advantages. Liquid cooling is better for the engine in high traffic and speeding but its biggest advantage is that liquid cooled engines tend to produce more horsepower.Ducati 1199 PANIGALE turn signals - replacement
- If you decided to fix the turn signals of your Ducati 1199 PANIGALE yourself there is nothing to worry about as that is indeed an easy DIY task. When disconnecting the wires of your motorcycle turn signals it is advisable to stick distinct tapes on them if they are not color coded. It could be as simple as disconnecting both the male and female ends if box connection is used. There should not be any confusion connecting the new Ducati 1199 PANIGALE turn signals after they are placed since the wires have been properly marked.Bike cover for Ducati 1199 PANIGALE
The dimensions of the Ducati 1199 PANIGALE are important when choosing a motorcycle cover. Any aftermarket accessories that affect the dimensions of the bike should be considered. The cover length, width and height might need to be bigger if saddle bags, fairings or backrest have been installed on the motorcycle.
