Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Aprilia RSV 1000 R:
- The fuel consumption (fuel economy) of a motorcycle shows either the mileage that can be achieved with a certain amount of fuel (mpg) or the amount of fuel needed to cover certain mileage (L/100km). It means that based on its technical specifications Aprilia RSV 1000 R will burn a gallon of fuel on every 37.3 miles of your trip or 6.30 liters on every 100km. So if Aprilia RSV 1000 R has a tank full of 4.8 gallons of fuel it can be ridden for 177 miles till we run out of gas. Of course we better make sure we top it up again before that happens.
- Engine size (displacement ) of 998 cc - this is the partial volume of the combustion chamber swept by all the pistons in a single movement from bottom dead center to top dead center. The more cubic centimeters the displacement volume the more power the engine generates. The displacement is commonly specified in cc (cubic centimeters) or liters and based on the Aprilia RSV 1000 R specifications its engine displacement is 998 cubic centimeters.
- 130 mm ground clearance is the shortest distance measured from the ground to the chassis of RSV 1000 R. Lower ground clearance means better handling while higher clearance equals more practicality.Aprilia RSV 1000 R bore and stroke explaination
- 97x67.5 bore and stroke - bore is indeed the size of the piston presented by its diameter and stroke is the depth of the piston measured from top to bottom. The stroke value actually represents the distance that the piston undergo in one stroke. The technical specification of Aprilia RSV 1000 R shows that its bore and stroke measures are 97 mm and 67.5 mm. RSV 1000 R has a short stroke engine because in this particular case the bore of the Aprilia engine is bigger that the length of the stroke.
- Compression ratio 11.8:1 - this parameter refers to how the cylinder's space changes from when the piston is down at its lowest point to when the piston is up at its highest point in the stroke. To avoid engine knocking when compression ratio is high those motorcycles might be recommended to use premium fuel only. Engines with higher compression ratio are more energy efficient because they are able to extract more mechanical energy from a certain amount of fuel.
- Chain final drive: There are currently three ways to drive power from a motorcycle engine to its rear wheel - chain, belt and shaft drive. Since they all have their specific advantages it is hard to tell the best among them. Bikes have been designed with all three variations of the final drive for many years and each of them has performed well for the purpose it's been used. The final drive of Aprilia RSV 1000 R is chain.
chain final driveOne of the most economical way to drive horsepower from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle is achieved with the chain drive and therefore it is still the most used among the three options by bike manufacturers. However all chains require keeping an eye on them and proper lubrication when they get dry and cleaning when they get dirty.
- Liquid cooling system: heat management and biker's comfort are some of the major concerns for the motorcycle manufacturers. Liquid cooling is better for the engine in high traffic and speeding but its biggest advantage is that liquid cooled engines tend to produce more horsepower.Aprilia RSV 1000 R - installation of turn signals
- You can easily find out how to replace the Aprilia RSV 1000 R turn signals and quickly do it yourself. As the motorcycle turn signals cables are generally color coded it would not be a hassle disconnecting and reconnecting the wires. It could be as simple as disconnecting both the male and female ends if box connection is used. Connect the wires properly after the new Aprilia RSV 1000 R turn signals are placed in position.Bike cover for Aprilia RSV 1000 R
The dimensions of the Aprilia RSV 1000 R are important when choosing a motorcycle cover. Some aftermarket accessories can change the overall dimensions of the bike. A larger cover will be needed if the motorcycle has an additional backrest, sissy bar or panniers fitted.
