motorcycle reviews: Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawasaki BMW Harley Davidson Aprilia Ducati Triumph KTM Hyosung |
A good way to figure out whether Yamaha YZF- R125 or Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is better matching your personal style and requirements is to compare their specifications and features in details. The decision on your next motorcycle purchase should be all based on your personal preferences for speed, handling and comfort. It is not unusual to find it hard to find the most suitable motorcycle and comparing the technical specifications and pictures will help to shorten the list of favourite ones to just a few models. A good way to find the most suitable one among them would be to sit on each of them and if possible ride it for a while.
Yamaha YZF- R125 has a smaller engine displacement than Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 but the size if the engine itself is doesn't mean that the bike is more or less powerful. The second bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 11.5:1 than the other one. This ratio is the relation of the volume in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of the stroke to the volume in the cylinder when the gas is compressed and the piston is at the top of the stroke. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement). The bike with a better fuel economy is the Yamaha YZF- R125 which can travel 69.2 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. There are two ways of showing the fuel economy of a motorcycle - describing how many miles it can travel with a single gallon of fuel (mpg) or how many litters of fuel it is burning on a 100 kilometer trip (l\100km). ![]() The ground clearance of Yamaha YZF- R125 (155mm) is bigger than the one of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 (bbb2mm). The distance between the chassis and the base of the tyre is called ride height or also ground clearance of a motorcycle and is usually given in millimeters in the technical specifications. In other words that is the shortest distance between the road surface and the lowest mechanical part of the motorcycle. The top speed of 246km/h makes Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 the faster of the two motorcycles. The other one (Yamaha YZF- R125) can achieve a maximum speed of 120km/h according to its technical specifications. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate. ![]() Yamaha YZF- R125 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 are both liquid cooled. The pretty constant ranges of operating temperature are typical for the liquid cooled engines. Therefore liquid cooled motors can run with carburetion set to burn all the fuel in the mixture. The liquid (coolant) is forced by the water pump to circulate from the radiator to the engine and back. A thermostat turns on an electric fan to draw more air over the radiator in case the motorcycle slows down and the air flowing through the radiator is not enough to cool the liquid inside it to the desired level. However the water pump, the thermostat, the radiator and all the linking gear makes it a bit more complex. ![]() Compression ratio - this parameter refers to how the cylinder's space changes from when the piston is down at its lowest point to when the piston is up at its highest point in the stroke. Its value for Yamaha YZF- R125 is 11.2:1 and for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the technical data of the motorcycles. This is actually the relation between the biggest and the smallest capacity of the combustion chamber. Higher compression ratio means bigger pressure of the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber and better efficiency achieved of its ignition. Engine oil is among the most important aspects of an engines health. Mineral and part-synthetic engine oils are cheaper when it comes to price in comparison with the most technically advanced synthetic motor oils. 3700 miles (6000 km) between oil changes is widely accepted rule. If you you synthetic oil then bigger mileage can be allowed between oil changes. Depending on the oil filter it needs to be replaced on each or every two oil changes. According to the technical specs the engine oil capacity is 1.2 litres for Yamaha YZF- R125 and 3.7 litres for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. The oil capacity information is only to get an idea of how much oil roughly will be needed on oilchange. Pouring exactly the proper amount of oil needed is achieved by observing the level sight window or the dipstick marks. |
