motorcycle reviews: Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawasaki BMW Harley Davidson Aprilia Ducati Triumph KTM Hyosung |
To compare the technical specifications and features of Yamaha YBR 125 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is a good way to find out which one of these motorcycles will better match your style and requirements. The decision on your next motorcycle purchase should be all based on your personal preferences for speed, handling and comfort. If you compare the motorcycles you are interested in by analysing their technical specifications, features and pictures, the list of favourite ones could be shortened to just a few models. A good way to find the most suitable one among them would be to sit on each of them and if possible ride it for a while.
The bigger engine size of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 in comparison to Yamaha YBR 125 doesn't mean that it is more powerful or better performing bike. The second bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 11.5:1 than the other one. It represents the relation between the biggest and the smallest volume in the combustion chamber while the piston is performing its stroke movement. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement). The bike with a better fuel economy is the Yamaha YBR 125 which can travel 75.9 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. When measured in mpg the fuel economy shows how many miles can be traveled with a gallon of fuel. Alternatively when measure in l\100km it shows the fuel consumption in litters per 100 kilometer trip. ![]() Yamaha YBR 125 has a better ground clearance of 170mm ( for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 it is 135mm). The ground clearance is also called the ride height and that is the distance between the base of the tyre and underside of the motorcycle’s body (the chassis). That, in other words, is the smallest distance between any mechanical body part of the motorcycle and the surface of the road. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is the faster of the two with top speed of 246 kilometers per hour against the max speed of 117 km/h specified to its opponent Yamaha YBR 125. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate. ![]() Compression ratio Imagine an engine's piston is at the bottom of its stroke (step one) and moves up compressing the gas in the cylinder till it reaches its top position of the stroke (step 2). The compression ratio is the ration of the volume in step one over the volume in step two. The value of the compression ratio of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the information in its technical data and for Yamaha YBR 125 the ratio is 10:1. To avoid engine knocking when compression ratio is high those motorcycles might be recommended to use premium fuel only. With internal combustion engines the higher compression ratio allows higher efficiency because the combustion temperature is reached with less fuel. The good quality of the engine oil is an important factor in keeping the motorcycle in peak condition. Many different types of engine oils are available as minerral, part-synthetic and synthetic and they all come at different price. It is commonly accepted engine oil to be changed on every 3700 miles (6000 kilometers). With synthetic oil though you can run as far as 8000 kilometers (5000 miles). Depending on the oil filter it needs to be replaced on each or every two oil changes. Both motorcycles have different oil capacity according to the technical specs - 1.2 litres for Yamaha YBR 125 and 3.7 litres for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. The oil capacity information is only to get an idea of how much oil roughly will be needed on oilchange. The exact amount of oil you pour in is to be judged by the current level shown on the oil level sight window or dipstick. |
