The bigger engine size of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 in comparison to Yamaha Fazer FZ6 doesn't mean that it is more powerful or better performing bike. The first bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 12.2:1 than the other one. It represents the relation between the biggest and the smallest volume in the combustion chamber while the piston is performing its stroke movement. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Yamaha Fazer FZ6 which can travel 49 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. When measured in mpg the fuel economy shows how many miles can be traveled with a gallon of fuel. Alternatively when measure in l\100km it shows the fuel consumption in litters per 100 kilometer trip.
front and rear tires The producer of each bike specifies the sizes of its front and rear tyre. Picking the proper type that matches your individual style of riding is very essential. The code designators located on the side of each tires is something that you should be aware of if you want to find proper tires for your bike. The width of the tire is represented by the first number. Both motorcycles have the same with of their front tires - 120 mm. The next number refers to the tire profile. The third number shows the size of the rim - its diameter measured in inches. A good way to save some time and money is to purchase your motorcycle tires online at competitive price.
The ground clearance (ride height) of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 135mm and is smaller than the clearance of Yamaha Fazer FZ6 which is 145mm. The distance between the chassis and the base of the tyre is called ride height or also ground clearance of a motorcycle and is usually given in millimeters in the technical specifications. This is the shortest line between the body of a motorcycle and the surface of the road.
Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is the faster of the two with top speed of 246 kilometers per hour against the max speed of 228 km/h specified to its opponent Yamaha Fazer FZ6. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.Motorcycle with liquid cooling system
Yamaha Fazer FZ6 is liquid cooled and so is the Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. Motorcycles with liquid cooling operate at narrower temperature ranges. The relatively consistent combustion environment of the liquid-cooled engine means that the mixture of fuel and air can be precisely controlled and optimised for better output. The water pump drives the coolant from the engine into the radiator and back. The temperature is kept at a relatively constant level by a thermostat which turns on a fan to draw more air over the radiator if needed. Water jackets in a liquid cooled engine act as sound insulators and make it quieter.
chain final drive Yamaha Fazer FZ6 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 are both driven by chain. Chain drives are by far the most popular final drive technology in the history of motorcycles and are the most economical way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel. Many bikers may complain of the need of constant care though. Since the chain is exposed to dust, sun and rain it needs to be periodically cleaned and properly lubricated.
Compression ratio - this parameter refers to how the cylinder's space changes from when the piston is down at its lowest point to when the piston is up at its highest point in the stroke. Its value for Yamaha Fazer FZ6 is 12.2:1 and for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the technical data of the motorcycles. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. Engines with higher compression ratio are more energy efficient because they are able to extract more mechanical energy from a certain amount of fuel.
One of the most important aspects of the basic level of maintenance of a motorcycle is the engine oil. Synthetic engine oils are considered the most technically advanced one and are more expensive than the mineral oils which come at lower price. It is commonly accepted engine oil to be changed on every 3700 miles (6000 kilometers). If you you synthetic oil then bigger mileage can be allowed between oil changes. The oil filter needs to be replaced too and that is usually to be done with the oil change. The oil capacity of Yamaha Fazer FZ6 is 2.9 litres and the engine oil of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 3.7 litres as per their technical specs. This oil capacity values are with informative purpose only. The exact amount of oil you pour in is to be judged by the current level shown on the oil level sight window or dipstick.
