technical specifications of Triumph Speed Triple 1050see data separatelytechnical specifications of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1

The bigger engine size of Triumph Speed Triple 1050 in comparison to Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 doesn't mean that it is more powerful or better performing bike. The first bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 12:1 than the other one. This is the ration of the volumes in the cylinder in two stages of the stroke when the piston is at the lowest and then at the highest point in the cylinder. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 which can travel 42 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. Miles per gallon (mpg) is one way of describing the fuel economy of a motorcycle and liters per 100 kilometers (l/100km) is another.
front and rear tiresIf the time to replace your motorcycle tyres has come then you need to find the proper new ones. The right choice also depends on your style of riding, whether you are speeding and riding agressively. The code designators located on the side of each tires is something that you should be aware of if you want to find proper tires for your bike. The width of the tire measured in millimeters is shown first. Both motorcycles Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 have the same width of their tires - 120 mm for the front tire and 190 mm for the rear one. The next number refers to the tire profile. How many inches is the diameter of the rim - that is what the tird number reveals. Buying motorcycle tires online can save you precious time and cash.
Both motorcycle models have the same measure of 135mm for their ground clearance. The distance between the chassis and the base of the tyre is called ride height or also ground clearance of a motorcycle and is usually given in millimeters in the technical specifications. To say it shortly, this is the smallest of the measures between the road surface and any mechanical part of the motorcycle.
Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 appears to be faster than Triumph Speed Triple 1050 with top speed of 246km/h against 242km/h for the other bike. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.Motorcycle with liquid cooling system
Those two motorcycle use the same cooling system - liquid. The tiny variations of the operating temperatures are one of the significant advantages of the liquid cooled motorcycles. Once the operating temperature is reached (the engine is warmed up), it runs at a pretty constant temperature. The circulation of the coolant from the radiator to the engine is helped by the water pump. A fan is turned on if needed by a thermostat to draw more air over the radiator in case the motorcycle slows down. However the water pump, the thermostat, the radiator and all the linking gear makes it a bit more complex.
motorcycle driven by chain Chain final drive is used with both motorcycles - the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and the Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. One of the most economical way to drive horsepower from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle is achieved with the chain drive and therefore it is still the most used among the three options by bike manufacturers. However chains have their down points - more frequent need of maintenance (lubrication and cleaning) which means that a biker should always keep an eye on the chain especially in rainy days or dusty roads.
Compression ratio Imagine an engine's piston is at the bottom of its stroke (step one) and moves up compressing the gas in the cylinder till it reaches its top position of the stroke (step 2). The compression ratio is the ration of the volume in step one over the volume in step two. Based on the information from the technical data of the motorcycles the values are accordingly 12:1 for Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and 11.5:1 for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. If you got a motorcycle with a greater compression ratio for its specific engine it is getting better fuel economy than it would if it had a lesser compression ratio.
To keep the engine in good health it is important to observe the good qulity and proper level of the motor oil. Synthetic engine oils are considered the most technically advanced one and are more expensive than the mineral oils which come at lower price. The oil is usually to be changed after 6000km (3700 miles) after the previous oil change. More kilometers between two oil changes is accepted when synthetic oil is used. The oil filter needs to be replaced too and that is usually to be done with the oil change. According to the technical specs the engine oil capacity is 3.9 litres for Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and 3.7 litres for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. When changing the oil it is advisable to put less than the specified oil capacity and to check the level. Pouring exactly the proper amount of oil needed is achieved by observing the level sight window or the dipstick marks.
