A good way to figure out whether Hyosung GT250R or Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is better matching your personal style and requirements is to compare their specifications and features in details. Your choice of motorcycle should be all about your individual preferences and comfort level. If you compare the motorcycles you are interested in by analysing their technical specifications, features and pictures, the list of favourite ones could be shortened to just a few models. The most appropriate method of exploring them is to actually ride each of them or at least sit on them to see how they feel.

technical specifications of Hyosung GT250Rsee data separatelytechnical specifications of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1

Hyosung GT250R has a smaller engine displacement than Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 but the size if the engine itself is doesn't mean that the bike is more or less powerful. The second bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 11.5:1 than the other one. This ratio is the relation of the volume in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of the stroke to the volume in the cylinder when the gas is compressed and the piston is at the top of the stroke. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Hyosung GT250R which can travel 71.3 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. The fuel economy of a motorcycle is either measured in mpg or l/100km, the first showing how many miles can be ridden with a gallon of fuel and the second showing how many litters of fuel are consumed on a 100km ride.
front and rear tiresEach motorcycle should be fitted with the type of tyres that are specified for it. The right choice also depends on your style of riding, whether you are speeding and riding agressively. The code designators located on the side of each tires is something that you should be aware of if you want to find proper tires for your bike. The width of the tire is represented by the first number. Both motorcycles have the same with of their front tires - 120 mm. The second number show the aspect ratio. The third of the code numbers reffers to the size of the rim and it is measured in inches. Since many internet stores are offering motorcycle tires it is an easy way to get proper pair of tires online at reasonable price.
The ground clearance (ride height) of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 135mm and is smaller than the clearance of Hyosung GT250R which is 155mm. The distance between the chassis and the base of the tyre is called ride height or also ground clearance of a motorcycle and is usually given in millimeters in the technical specifications. That, in other words, is the smallest distance between any mechanical body part of the motorcycle and the surface of the road.
Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 appears to be faster than Hyosung GT250R with top speed of 246km/h against 140km/h for the other bike. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.
chain final drive Both motorcycles Hyosung GT250R and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 have the same final drive - chain. Chain drives are by far the most popular final drive technology in the history of motorcycles and are the most economical way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel. The down points of the chain drive are the frequent maintenance required as it needs to be regularly cleaned and oiled. Besides it is not as smooth as a shaft or belt drive.
compression ratio is a value that represents the ratio of the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the lowest point it is ever gonna go down and the volume of gas when the piston is at its highest point. The value of the compression ratio of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the information in its technical data and for Hyosung GT250R the ratio is 10.3:1. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. Higher compression ratio means bigger pressure of the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber and better efficiency achieved of its ignition.
To keep the engine in good health it is important to observe the good qulity and proper level of the motor oil. Many different types of engine oils are available as minerral, part-synthetic and synthetic and they all come at different price. It is commonly accepted engine oil to be changed on every 3700 miles (6000 kilometers). Synthetic oil can be changed less often though. Depending on the oil filter it needs to be replaced on each or every two oil changes. The oil capacity of Hyosung GT250R is 2.1 litres and the engine oil of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 3.7 litres as per their technical specs. The oil capacity information is only to get an idea of how much oil roughly will be needed on oilchange. The proper amount of oil needed is best judged while observing the reading on the level sight window (or the dipstick).
