Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 has bigger engine size than Hyosung GT-650 Comet but this is not a direct indicator for more power or better performance. The first bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 11.6:1 than the other one. This represents the biggest volume of the cylinder when the piston is located at the lowest point of the stroke compared to the minimum volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the highest point of the stroke. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Hyosung GT-650 Comet which can travel 41.3 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. There are two ways of showing the fuel economy of a motorcycle - describing how many miles it can travel with a single gallon of fuel (mpg) or how many litters of fuel it is burning on a 100 kilometer trip (l\100km).
front and rear tiresEach motorcycle should be fitted with the type of tyres that are specified for it. Another considerable factor here is your own riding style. Tires have a code of numbers and letters printed on their sides and these are important to be understood properly when looking for matching tires. The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters. Both motorcycles have the same with of their front tires - 120 mm. The aspect ratio of the tire is represented by the second number of the code. The diameter of the rim is represented by the third number in the code. Looking online for motorcycle tires is a good way to easily find the right size at low price.
Hyosung GT-650 Comet has a better ground clearance of 150mm ( for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 it is 135mm). The parameter ground clearance refers to the space between the ground and underside of the chassis and is also called ride height of a motorcycle. In other words that is the shortest distance between the road surface and the lowest mechanical part of the motorcycle.
Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is the faster of the two with top speed of 246 kilometers per hour against the max speed of 187 km/h specified to its opponent Hyosung GT-650 Comet. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.liquid cooling system of a motorcycleThe same method of engine cooling is used on both motorcycles - liquid cooling. The pretty constant ranges of operating temperature are typical for the liquid cooled engines. The relatively consistent combustion environment of the liquid-cooled engine means that the mixture of fuel and air can be precisely controlled and optimised for better output. The coolant is circulating into the radiator and back to the engine driven by the water pump. The temperature is kept at a relatively constant level by a thermostat which turns on a fan to draw more air over the radiator if needed. Water jackets in a liquid cooled engine act as sound insulators and make it quieter.
final drive implemented with chain Both motorcycles Hyosung GT-650 Comet and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 have the same final drive - chain. Chain final drives are known for their simplicity and efficiency in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle and are one of the most popular final drive options by far. Many bikers may complain of the need of constant care though. Since the chain is exposed to dust, sun and rain it needs to be periodically cleaned and properly lubricated.
Compression ratio Imagine an engine's piston is at the bottom of its stroke (step one) and moves up compressing the gas in the cylinder till it reaches its top position of the stroke (step 2). The compression ratio is the ration of the volume in step one over the volume in step two. Its value for Hyosung GT-650 Comet is 11.6:1 and for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the technical data of the motorcycles. In other words it represents how tightly the mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber is pressed before the ignition. If you got a motorcycle with a greater compression ratio for its specific engine it is getting better fuel economy than it would if it had a lesser compression ratio.
The good quality of the engine oil is an important factor in keeping the motorcycle in peak condition. Synthetic engine oils are considered the most technically advanced one and are more expensive than the mineral oils which come at lower price. As a general rule it should be changed on every 6000 kilometers or 3700 miles. The quality of the synthetic oil allows up to 5000 miles (8000 km) between oil changes. Some oil filters can be replaced on every second oil change while others are to be replaced on each oil change. The technical specs show that the Hyosung GT-650 Comet takes 3.4 litres of engine oil while the oil capacity of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 3.7 litres. This oil capacity values are with informative purpose only. The proper amount of oil needed is best judged while observing the reading on the level sight window (or the dipstick).
