motorcycle reviews:
Yamaha Honda Suzuki Kawasaki BMW Harley Davidson Aprilia Ducati Triumph KTM Hyosung
Looking at the detailed specifications of both motorcycles Ducati Streetfighter 848 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is a proper approach to determine which of the two is more likely to match your style of riding and to satisfy your preferences. When trying to make your mind on the next motorcycle, your personal levels of comfort should be the leading criteria. After comparing one motorcycle versus another and so on, the circle of favourite models will be then eventually narrowed to several ones. A good way to find the most suitable one among them would be to sit on each of them and if possible ride it for a while.

The bigger engine size of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 in comparison to Ducati Streetfighter 848 doesn't mean that it is more powerful or better performing bike. The first bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 13.2:1 than the other one. It represents the relation between the biggest and the smallest volume in the combustion chamber while the piston is performing its stroke movement. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Ducati Streetfighter 848 which can travel 41.3 miles with one gallon of fuel. Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 on the contrary can travel 37.6 miles with a gallon. There are two ways of showing the fuel economy of a motorcycle - describing how many miles it can travel with a single gallon of fuel (mpg) or how many litters of fuel it is burning on a 100 kilometer trip (l\100km).
front and rear tires The producer of each bike specifies the sizes of its front and rear tyre. Your type of riding is also to be taken into account here. You need to know what the code designators printed on the tire mean in order to be able to find the proper size for your bike. The width of the tire is represented by the first number. Both motorcycles have the same with of their front tires - 120 mm. The profile of the tire is revealed by the second number. The third of the code numbers reffers to the size of the rim and it is measured in inches. Buying motorcycle tires online can save you precious time and cash.
Ducati Streetfighter 848 has a better ground clearance of 165mm ( for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 it is 135mm). The ground clearance is also called the ride height and that is the distance between the base of the tyre and underside of the motorcycle’s body (the chassis). To say it shortly, this is the smallest of the measures between the road surface and any mechanical part of the motorcycle.
Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is the faster of the two with top speed of 246 kilometers per hour against the max speed of 244 km/h specified to its opponent Ducati Streetfighter 848. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.liquid cooling system of a motorcycleThe same method of engine cooling is used on both motorcycles - liquid cooling. The tiny variations of the operating temperatures are one of the significant advantages of the liquid cooled motorcycles. Once the operating temperature is reached (the engine is warmed up), it runs at a pretty constant temperature. The main principle is circulation of the liquid between the radiator and the engine. A thermostat turns on an electric fan to draw more air over the radiator in case the motorcycle slows down and the air flowing through the radiator is not enough to cool the liquid inside it to the desired level. However the water pump, the thermostat, the radiator and all the linking gear makes it a bit more complex.
chain driven motorcycle The same final drive (chain) is used with these two bikes Ducati Streetfighter 848 and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. Most motorcycles are produced with chain drive because of its economical way to transfer power to the rear wheel and convey the biggest percentage of engine power in that process. However all chains require keeping an eye on them and proper lubrication when they get dry and cleaning when they get dirty.
compression ratio is a value that represents the ratio of the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the lowest point it is ever gonna go down and the volume of gas when the piston is at its highest point. Based on the information from the technical data of the motorcycles the values are accordingly 13.2:1 for Ducati Streetfighter 848 and 11.5:1 for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. To avoid engine knocking when compression ratio is high those motorcycles might be recommended to use premium fuel only. If you got a motorcycle with a greater compression ratio for its specific engine it is getting better fuel economy than it would if it had a lesser compression ratio.
Motorcycle oil is one of the most important components that keeps the engine running smoothly. Engine oils are different types as synthetic, mineral, part-synthetic and they all come at their price and qualities. The engine oil is to be changed on every 3700 miles (or 6000 kilometers) as a general rule. The quality of the synthetic oil allows up to 5000 miles (8000 km) between oil changes. The oil filter needs to be replaced too and that is usually to be done with the oil change. According to the technical specs the engine oil capacity is 3.5 litres for Ducati Streetfighter 848 and 3.7 litres for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. This oil capacity values are with informative purpose only. The proper amount of oil needed is best judged while observing the reading on the level sight window (or the dipstick).
