A good way to figure out whether Aprilia RSV 1000 R or Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is better matching your personal style and requirements is to compare their specifications and features in details. You certainly have your own comfort zones in speeding, handling and sitting position and these should guide you to your choice of motorcycle. It is not unusual to find it hard to find the most suitable motorcycle and comparing the technical specifications and pictures will help to shorten the list of favourite ones to just a few models. Then the most appropriate judgement can be made when each of them is taken for a real ride.

The first bike has the advantage of greater compression ratio of 11.8:1 than the other one. This represents the biggest volume of the cylinder when the piston is located at the lowest point of the stroke compared to the minimum volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the highest point of the stroke. When the mixture of air and fuel in the combustion chamber has bigger pressure (higher compression ratio) when it is ignited then it burns more effectively and therefore these bikes tend to have better fuel economy (comparing engines with equal displacement).
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 which can travel 37.6 miles with one gallon of fuel. Aprilia RSV 1000 R on the contrary can travel 37.3 miles with a gallon. There are two ways of showing the fuel economy of a motorcycle - describing how many miles it can travel with a single gallon of fuel (mpg) or how many litters of fuel it is burning on a 100 kilometer trip (l\100km).
motorcycle tiresEach motorcycle should be fitted with the type of tyres that are specified for it. Picking the proper type that matches your individual style of riding is very essential. The code designators located on the side of each tires is something that you should be aware of if you want to find proper tires for your bike. The width of the tire measured in millimeters is shown first. Both motorcycles Aprilia RSV 1000 R and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 have the same width of their tires - 120 mm for the front tire and 190 mm for the rear one. The second number show the aspect ratio. The third number shows the size of the rim - its diameter measured in inches. Buying motorcycle tires online can save you precious time and cash.
The ground clearance of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 (135mm) is bigger than the one of Aprilia RSV 1000 R (bbb2mm). The distance between the chassis and the base of the tyre is called ride height or also ground clearance of a motorcycle and is usually given in millimeters in the technical specifications. This is the shortest line between the body of a motorcycle and the surface of the road.
Aprilia RSV 1000 R is the faster of the two with top speed of 265 kilometers per hour against the max speed of 246 km/h specified to its opponent Yamaha Fazer FZ-1. However sources may vary as to whether these top speed parameters are precise or only approximate.Liquid cooled motorcycle engine
Aprilia RSV 1000 R and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 are both liquid cooled. The pretty constant ranges of operating temperature are typical for the liquid cooled engines. Keeping the operating temperature at a very narrow range allows many engine components to be optimised for these temperatures. The water pump drives the coolant from the engine into the radiator and back. The temperature is kept at a relatively constant level by a thermostat which turns on a fan to draw more air over the radiator if needed. Water jackets in a liquid cooled engine act as sound insulators and make it quieter.
chain final drive Aprilia RSV 1000 R and Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 are both driven by chain. Chain final drives are known for their simplicity and efficiency in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel of the motorcycle and are one of the most popular final drive options by far. However chains have their down points - more frequent need of maintenance (lubrication and cleaning) which means that a biker should always keep an eye on the chain especially in rainy days or dusty roads.
Compression ratio 11.8:1 means that the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke refers to the volume of gas when the piston is at the top of its stroke as 11.8:1. Its value for Aprilia RSV 1000 R is 11.8:1 and for Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 is 11.5:1 based on the technical data of the motorcycles. Motorcycles with higher compression ratio may be recommended to use premium fuel only in order to avoid engine knocking. With internal combustion engines the higher compression ratio allows higher efficiency because the combustion temperature is reached with less fuel.
Engine oil is among the most important aspects of an engines health. Engine oils are different types as synthetic, mineral, part-synthetic and they all come at their price and qualities. 3700 miles (6000 km) between oil changes is widely accepted rule. With synthetic oil though you can run as far as 8000 kilometers (5000 miles). Replacing the oil filter is also to be considered on each engine oil change. Aprilia RSV 1000 R takes 3.8 litres of engine oil. The technical specs of Yamaha Fazer FZ-1 determines its oil capacity to be 3.7 litres. The oil capacity here is just to give you a rough idea of how much oil you need on an oil change. The proper amount of oil needed is best judged while observing the reading on the level sight window (or the dipstick).
